Golden Turmeric Blend

Butternut Squash & Red Lentil Soup  – Serves 3

Ingredients

  1. ½ cup Red Lentils thoroughly washed, soaked for 3+ hours
  2. 2 cups Butternut Squash cubed
  3. 3 cups of water
  4. 1 teaspoon AyurSome Foods Golden Turmeric Blend
  5. ½ teaspoon roasted cumin powder
  6. Himalayan Pink Salt to taste
  7. For garnish - Fresh Parsley or Cilantro & Lime 
  8. Optional – 1 teaspoon of EVOO or Cow’s Ghee

 How to make

  1. Combine all the ingredients except EVOO / Cow’s Ghee, Parsley / Cilantro and Lime in a saucepan.
  2. Bring the water to boil
  3. Reduce the heat to low, cover and cook until the lentils and squash are tender (typically takes 15-20 minutes)
  4. Turn off the gas, and blend with an immersion blender (let the soup cool down a bit to prevent burns from splutter, if any)
  5. Stir in EVOO or Cow’s Ghee
  6. Serve warm, topped with fresh Parsley or Cilantro and a light squeeze of lime

Date & Pear Kitchari (Rice & Mung Stew) – Serves 2

 Ingredients

  1. ½ cup Basmati Rice thoroughly washed
  2. ½ cup Yellow Mung Beans thoroughly washed. Preferably soaked for 2-3 hours
  3. 1 Small Pear finely chopped
  4. 1 Mejdool date finely chopped
  5. 1 – 1.5 teaspoon AyurSome Foods Golden Turmeric Blend
  6. Himalayan Pink Salt to taste
  7. 3 – 3.5 cups of water
  8. Optional – 1 teaspoon of Cow’s Ghee or Coconut Oil if vegan

How to make

  1. Combine all the ingredients except Cow’s Ghee / Coconut oil in a saucepan
  2. Bring the water to boil
  3. Reduce the heat to low, cover and cook until the rice and yellow mung beans are tender to the consistency of oatmeal (typically takes 15-20 minutes)
  4. Turn off the gas and stir in Ghee / Coconut oil
  5. Serve warm

Golden Milk Latte - serves 1

Ingredients

  1. 1 cup of Milk (Diary or Almond)
  2. 1 teaspoon AyurSome Foods Golden Turmeric Blend
  3. Optional - ½ teaspoon Coconut Sugar

How to make

  1. Combine all ingredients in a saucepan and bring to boil
  2. Pour it into a cup & enjoy!

Early Fall to Late Spring as light breakfast, in-between meals or night tonic

Immunity Balls/Pastilles – 7 servings

Ingredients

  1. 2 Tablespoons Powdered or Grated Jaggery
  2. 2 teaspoon AyurSome Foods Golden Turmeric Blend
  3. 2 teaspoons melted Cow’s Ghee (might need a bit over depending on the quality of jaggery)

How to make

  1. Mix the ingredients well in a bowl with your hand until they start to bind a bit
  2. Take 1 teaspoon of the mixture and roll it into a ball, and repeat this 6 times

  1. Start or End of day
  2. As pastille for a sore throat have it as the very last thing before bedtime

Overnight Oats – Serves 2

Ingredients

  1. 1 cup (237ml) Rolled or Instant Oats Original/Unsweetened
  2. 2 cups Dairy or Nut Milk
  3. 2 teaspoons AyurSome Foods Golden Turmeric Blend
  4. 2-3 pieces of Mejdool Dates or 4-5 Dried Figs 
  5. Optional toppings – Walnuts, Pistachios, Cocoa nibs

How to make

  1. Blend together the Milk, Golden Turmeric Blend and Dates in a high-speed blender to make a smoothie
  2. Add Oats and the smoothie in a bowls/glass jar and mix them up well
  3. Sprinkle any of the optional toppings if desired
  4. Cover the bowl/glass jar and put it in the refrigerator for 6-8 hours

Stewed Apples or Pears – serves 1

Ingredients

  1. 2 Apples of sweet variety e.g. gala, honey crisp OR Pears
  2. 3-4 tablespoons of Water
  3. 1/2 teaspoon AyurSome Foods Golden Turmeric Blend
  4. Optional - 1 teaspoon Cow’s Ghee or Coconut oil if vegan

How to make

  1. Peel, core and cut the apples into thin slices or half inch cubes
  2. Combine cut apples, water and Golden Turmeric Blend into a pan
  3. Start cooking over medium flame until the water comes to boil
  4. Reduce the heat to low, cover and let is simmer until the apples are tender (about 15-18 minutes)
  5. Turn off the heat
  6. Add cow’s ghee / coconut oil

Veggie Khichari (Rice & Mung Stew) – serves 2

Ingredients

  1. ½ cup White Rice thoroughly washed
  2. ½ cup Yellow Mung Beans thoroughly washed. Preferably soaked for 2-3 hours
  3. 1 teaspoon AyurSome Foods Golden Turmeric Blend
  4. 1 teaspoon Cumin seeds
  5. 1 sprig Curry leaves
  6. ½ tablespoon Cow’s Ghee or Coconut Oil
  7. ½ cup Seasonal Veggies - green beans, summer & winter squashes, carrots go well
  8. 3-4 cups of water, depending upon the consistency you prefer
  9. Salt to taste
  10. Optional - Cilantro & a squeeze of Lime for garnish

How to make

  1. Warm up Cow’s Ghee or Coconut in a saucepan
  2. Add the Cumin seeds and let them splutter
  3. Add the Curry leaves, Golden Turmeric Blend, White Rice and Yellow Mung Beans, Veggies and give it a good stir
  4. Add water and salt
  5. Bring the water to boil
  6. Turn the gas/heat down to simmer, cover the saucepan until the rice and beans are tender and mushy. Typically, that takes about 15-20 minutes.
  7. Garnish with fresh Cilantro and a squeeze of lime juice (optional) and enjoy this comforting meal!
